NO WAGES AND PAYING TO WORK?!

NJ RESTAURANT WORKERS DEMAND
ENFORCEMENT OF LABOR LAW

PRESS CONFERENCE & DEMONSTRATION

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 22nd AT 12 NOON

Majestic Restaurant & Buffet
(29 Route 23 South; Wayne, NJ 07470 (b/t Willowbrook Blvd. & Bloomsfield Ave., near Willowbrook Mall)

All over NJ, restaurant workers are saying enough is enough. Particularly in buffet restaurants, workers are standing up against sweatshop conditions. The National Labor Relations Board recently issued an order to Majestic Buffet restaurant in Wayne, New Jersey to rehire workers who spoke out. Majestic Buffet owners David Ho and company did not pay their workers a single cent in wages, and forced them to pay to work. Majestic Buffet routinely stole money from their workers through kickbacks and arbitrary fines. When six Majestic Buffet workers walked out in protest against these intolerable conditions, Majestic Buffet changed their company name twice to avoid accountability to the workers. Owner David Ho continues to cheat his workers, the government, and the public. Majestic Buffet has still failed to follow the NLRB ruling.

The Justice Will Be Served! NJ Restaurant Workers’ Campaign has already won cases in NJ against King Chef Restaurant in Wayne, NJ and Rainbow Buffet in Fairview, NJ. These victories have encouraged others to speak out against sweatshop conditions, but many restaurants, like Majestic Buffet still continue illegal labor practices. These bosses not only cheat their workers, but undermine law-abiding restaurant owners.

We need you to ensure these illegal practices end in our communities. Join the JWBS! NJ Restaurant Workers Campaign on September 22. We call for systemic changes in the industry by boycotting Majestic Buffet Restaurant and demand that the owners: 1) Reinstate the workers and 2) Pay back stolen wages. We also demand stronger enforcement of the labor law in NJ.

Justice Will Be Served! (JWBS) is a campaign that unites restaurant, hotel, deli, and other service workers in different communities across New York to fight against long hours, second-class wages, stolen tips and other sweatshop conditions. JWBS! is composed of a coalition of organizations: 318 Restaurant Workers Union, Chinese Staff & Workers' Association, National Mobilization Against Sweatshops.
