H.R. 4437 (the Sensenbrenner bill) & guestworker programs are an extension of IRCA, which 20 years ago criminalized immigrants and established an underclass of undocumented workers, under the guise of punishing employers for knowingly hiring undocumented workers.
Twenty years later, Congress is trying to strengthen the Employer Sanctions provisions of IRCA, through H.R. 4437, which further criminalizes immigrants, and through guestworker programs, which will legalize the underground economy and expand the underclass of labor. These proposed immigration reforms will hurt not only immigrants or undocumented, but all working people.
UNITE NOW TO STOP THESE REGRESSIVE PROPOSALS, AND DEMAND A TRUE COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM!
Break the Chains will have a contingent at the march, to say NO to criminalization, NO to guestworker programs, and REPEAL Employer Sanctions, the foundation of all these regressive immigration bills that creates an underclass of workers!
