Refuses to Comply with Law
Restaurant workers rally together to end tip-stealing practice
Press Conference & Protest
Sunday, March 18th @ 6PM
Jing Fong Restaurant
20 Elizabeth Street; NYC , NY 10013 ; b/t Canal and Bayard
Chinatown restaurant workers will rally together
this Sunday to demand Chinatown's largest restaurant comply with
the labor law. Jing Fong restaurant owner Shui Ling Lam continues
to take 35% of waiters' banquet tips, even after a precedent-setting
federal court ruling on tip-stealing issued in February[1]. In
addition, 28 Jing Fong workers will announce a multi-million dollar
lawsuit to be filed against Jing Fong for stealing waiters' tips
and for minimum wage law violations.
Scores of workers from restaurants throughout Chinatown will come
together in front of Jing Fong to denounce the restaurant's tip-stealing
policy. Jing Fong is one of two restaurants in Chinatown still
stealing workers' tips.
