Solidarity Picket and Demonstration
at East Buffet Restaurant!
Workers and community groups all over Long Island and New
York are coming together on January 8, 2006 to support striking
East Buffet workers with a solidarity picket and demonstration.
The 318 Restaurant Workers Union and its East Buffet members
have been on strike for four months to stop management's illegal
and unfair labor practices.
What: Picket and demonstration to support striking union
workers
Where: 179 Walt Whitman Rd. (Rte. 110), Huntington Station
(across from the Walt Whitman Mall, exit 40N Northern State
Parkway; exit 49N LIE)
When: Sunday January 8, 2006 at 12PM
318 Restaurant Workers Union members are on STRIKE at East
Buffet because the restaurant:
- Retaliated against workers who support the union
- Fired workers who stood up for their labor rights
- Stole tips from the waiters and busboys
- Made illegal house rules and regulations
Union members call for a boycott until East Buffet:
1. Stops all unfair labor practices.
2. Stops the harassment & retaliation against workers
who support the union.
3. Reinstates the workers who were fired for standing up for
their rights.
4. Stops stealing tips.
5. Reimburses all stolen tips, wages, and withheld taxes to
all employees.
The event is being coordinated and supported by the Justice
Will Be Served Campaign!, Jobs with Justice - Long Island,
Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), Make the Road by Walking,
