The owners Roberto Malta, Enrico Malta, Robert Debenedictis y Tarek Alam of Intermezzo/Il
Bastardo restaurants forced workers to work up to 78 hours per week. Bosses denied them minimum
wages (paying as little as $3.33/hr), overtime pay, and lunch breaks. They also withheld wages. After
workers filed a lawsuit for all of the above, owners retaliated against them. They tried to divide and
punish workers by changing their hours, forcing them to work at different restaurants of the same
company, and refused to pay them on time. When workers continued to organize, they were fired. We
are demanding that the owners of Intermezzo, Il Bastardo, Bar Baresco, Arte Cafe, Maria Pia, and
Puttanesca:

• STOP RETALIATION AGAINST WORKERS
• REHIRE THE WORKERS
• PAY WORKERS WHAT IS OWED TO THEM, INCLUDING OVERTIME PAY
