HUNGER STRIKE

These brave friends
Are fighting for their lives
Fighting for democracy
Fighting for our rights
Fighting to save health care
In New York on hunger strike.

This governor
Does not realize
We are fighting for our families;
We do not have a choice.
The people all across this state
Are speaking with one voice.

Four days pass.
Two of them are down
And in deep amazement
The city turns its eyes upon
Twelve who do not waiver
This protest will go on.

A single flame
Flickers in the night.
When passed along from hand to hand
Becomes a brilliant light.
When we all stand together
We cannot be denied.

These brave friends
Are fighting for our lives.

Fighting for our rights.
